Between October 24th and 25th, the CIDEHUS International Conference "Social Changes - Interdisicplinary Approaches" took place at the Colégio do Espírito Santo. It was organized by CIDEHUS – Interdisciplinary Centre for Histories, Cultures, and Societies – with the aim of addressing current social challenges in the Southern territories through a global and diverse scientific perspective.
The ASTO team participated in the panel "Enriching the Tourist Experience through the Valorization of Cultural Heritage" where they presented and shared the projects and working dynamics that members of the observatory have been developing in recent years. In this context, two presentations were delivered as part of the project "PACTUAL - Cultural Heritage and Tourism in Alentejo: Motivations and Experiences of the Portuguese Visitor". The first was presented by the Research Coordinator, Professor Noémi Marujo, who introduced the project’s context, outlined its objectives, described the data collection process, the information processing methods, and presented the main findings from the sample. The second presentation, delivered by research fellows José Carola and Vitorina Baptista, focused on the results of the study concerning the identification and segmentation of tourist and domestic visitor profiles based on the types of experiences lived at the destination.
Professor Áurea Rodrigues gave the presentation "Exploring Experience in the Context of Astrotourism," focused on a research project developed around the relationship and interpretation of tourists and visitors in connection with stargazing and contact with nature.
Finally, Professor Joana Lima closed the panel with the presentation "Family Tourism and New Family Morphologies – Contextualization of the FAMT Project."
